Super Foods to Help Your Memory

Memory lapses can happen to us every now and then. You arrive at the grocery store and find out that you've left your list at home. You can't remember what you wanted as you hold the fridge door open. You blank on a coworker's name even when you've been working together for years. You forget where you parked your car.

Although you might feel alarmed at these lapses in memory, you need to relax because they're normal; you don't have to make yourself sick with worry. What you can do is strengthen your memory. If you start eating the super foods we'll mention in this article, you'll be able to improve your memory.

Did you know that calcium is one very important mineral where brain function is concerned? It is literally one of the building blocks that makes up your brain. If you aren't currently getting enough calcium, this needs to be corrected immediately. You can try eating more dairy. You can eat leafy green vegetables. If your doctor deems it safe for you, start taking calcium bicarbonate tablets on a daily basis.

Foods high in tyrosine protein will help keep your memory sharp. These proteins are great memory boosters because they help increase the number of neurotransmitters in your brain. The brain makes these proteins, but it's wise to also eat foods that are rich in these proteins. These proteins are found in soy and dairy products.

This is good news for vegans, vegetarians and people who eat meat alike. So if you're a vegetarian or vegan, eat more soy products. If you're a meat eater or lacto-vegetarian, you can get your tyrosine proteins from milk. What you want to avoid, however, are foods that are high in salt.

Try giving your memory a boost with avocados. You'll find avocados to be rich in vitamins C and E. These are the two vitamins that, according to researchers, inhibit plaque formation and prevent Alzheimer's. Try incorporating avocados into your diet; it's very simple.

Make guacamole from avocados. Make sure you keep it healthy, though. Dip veggies, not chips, in your guacamole. You can even eat avocado with your salad. You can easily start eating more memory super foods; it's not hard at all to do.

The super foods we talked about in this article are readily found in the market. You don't have to search high and low or even spend a lot of money to include them in your diet. You've got plenty of ways to prepare them. So why would you not include them in your daily diet when you stand to gain from eating them?
